Fresh for THURSDAY THE 13th!!! Eerie Horror Fest, Best-Of screening!

Next Thursday!!! Warm up your blood curdling screams, and practice your best "i'm-gonna-vom" face, cause the best of this year's Eerie Horror Fest is coming to Edinboro. At 8:00pm, (that's right 8:00, not the usual 8:30 thrus. night showing time) be at the Pougue Center theater for our free of charge showing of the BEST OF THE FEST. Did you miss the festival? A lot of us did, I for one was out of town, but now we have a chance redeem ourselves with over two hours of horror mayhem! It's FREE for EUP students, faculty and staff, but even if you're not part of the EUP "family" you can join in on the fun for only $2!!! So bring your friends, and their friends, and anyone else you can find, because (at least in my opinion) when it comes to horror flicks, the more, the merrier! Come share some screams with us, Thurs. Nov 13th (SPOOOKY!!!) at 8:00pm!!!

EFS Gets Grant Monies From Arts Erie and PA Council of The Arts!!!

Yay for free money!!! John(along with his lovely wife Dorota) and Adam recieved a swanky check at an even swankier get together at Erie's Warner Theater earlier this week. The grant makes up a large portion of the EFS budget, and is therefore totally sweet. There were many other organizations from EUP that were also granted funds, but none as mysterious and strangly attractive as the Edinboro Film Series. When asked to describe what we do, John replied with a snide, "What DON'T *wink* we do?"

But in all seriousness, the EFS would not be able to put on any events without this funding. So, since it's election season, vote for your local representative that supports the arts! Like Senator Jane Earll. anyway, just vote, ok? please?

Two young engineers work by day for a large corporation while conducting extracurricular experiments on their own time. While tweaking their current project, they accidentally discover that it has some highly unexpected capabilities--ones that could enable them to do and to have seemingly anything they want. Taking advantage of this unique opportunity is the first challenge they face. Dealing with the consequences is the next. A Sundance 2004 Selection where it won Best Feature Film and Grand Jury prizes. First time filmmaker Shane Carruth made "Primer" for $7000. Rated PG-13. Sci-fi/Thriller.

This Film is KILLER.  It's totally sweet in every concievable way...  and I believe there will be free popcorn!!!

Fun and Games, but not Funny Games...

Hello guys and dolls,
Technically, i planned on updating this blog on friday, and technically it's saturday... but who gives a crap? Anyway, the title links to some info about Mel G's newest feature, which De Niro walked out on, because of the coments about jews Mel made in the past. Personally, i think Mel was trashed (and should not have been driving) and had his jihad beard on and the cop made some comment like "hey osama, were you out trying to eradicate the jews?" or something similar, and (being wasted) Mel said in the most drunkenly sarcastic tone possible, "Of course, they are the scum of the earth... and I am the tool of jihad sent to cleanse the earth of their stench..." I feel pretty confident that my theory is correct. All that being said, i get mistaken for a well known jewish guy practically everyday... (see above pic)

so i'm allowed to poke fun, right? So, that's it, the blog update for today. I'm still waiting on confirmation of the dates for the small showings we want to do on campus... so keep your eyes peeled and your toes curled, for this is the future my lovelies....

Suggestons...

Hello all,
If you weren't at the meeting last thursday, we've decided to do bi-weekly screenings at the pougue center theater, and we are open to your suggestions. But hurry up, we're planning on releasing the schedule this coming thursday! The screenings will be every other thursday, starting at 8:30. There will be a short meeting discussing any business we have to take care of, and then we'll watch the film, followed by who knows. Hopefully we'll be able to go to perkins or something and discuss it afterwards. A few qualifications... you need to be a current EUP student, and you need to bring your student ID (this is so we don't break any copywrite laws). So send in your suggestions quickly, and keep your eyes peeled for the schedule!

Adam

ps: the still above is from a film we'll probably show. first to name the film in a comment here wins a hat!!! (the hat is not an EFS hat, and is to be given out at the next meeting, and john, you're not allowed to participate)

We've decided (as a group) to have bi-weekly meetings at 8:30 on Thursdays followed by a film screening... pending availability of the pougue center theater and whatnot... so, stay tuned for more info, and COME WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!!!

Brand Spankin' Bloggin's!!!

Hello, and Welcome...
To this, the inaugural post on the fresh as hot crossed buns Edinboro Film Series blog!!! You're excited, right? Alright, well, there's not much to be excited about quite yet, but i assure you, as we get rolling this semester, you'll be waiting with baited breath for an update. Anyway...

We're having our first meeting of the semester WED September 3rd @ 8:30 at the movie theater in the Pougue Center. Don't know where that is? E-mail us, or leave a comment. We're electing officers, (which by the way are up for grabs to any student who wants to be involved) as well as talking about upcoming programing. Now for the new stuff...

We're planning on doing weekly showings of movies either related to upcoming/possible Film Series events, or just films we think everyone who loves movies should see. So if you have any suggestions, we'll take them into consideration. Now these showings are going to be open to students only, so take advantage of them while you can. This series of films is an effort on the leadership's part to make us more of an interconnected community. The more time we spend together the better we'll be able to impart what it is we're trying to do, and the more effectively we'll be able to assimilate your input into the space-time anomaly that is EFS (Edinboro Film Series)

Whelp, that'll about do it, look for weekly posts from me, as well as some guest poster's as well. I'll be putting up exciting indie film news, music reviews, random youtube's, and pictures of events and meetings. So, get involved, and help us take the "boring" out of "Edinboring". I'm still taking suggestions regarding what we should replace it with...
